Family Fun Night

Elementary school function. Eliot spent most of the night helping at the ring toss station, then sprinting to the dance floor at the beginning of each new song for 45 seconds of manic dancing, before returning to the ring toss until the next song.

Rigged ball toss. Impossible to win!  : (

But he gave it his best effort!

Hmmm, which one next?

Spin art rocks!

Checking out a classmate's hooping skills.

The old rope the 4ht grade girl with your hoop technique. Very effective.

Spin art results.

Step right up folks. Just one ticket, everyone's a winner. Ring the pirate's sword, nothing to it.

Snake tattoo!

Tattoo artist.

Snake, gecko, and spider, what else does anyone need?

Showing the cool 6th grader the new tats. Street cred.

Spring Break, Delaware Beaches

For Spring Break, we were planning to go camping on a Delaware ocean side beach, but the snow forecasted made us a bit less excited about this plan. Our friend John, graciously invited us to stay at his place a few miles inland.

Scooter loves the cake that our friends left for us.

Scoping out John's digs. Cool front porch room.

Cape Henlopen State Park (DE) where we were going to camp before the temp fell below 32.

Hello, pirates? Can you please tell me where you buried your treasure?

They didn't fess up, so we had to search on our own.

After scouring the snowy, windy, rainy, cold beaches, the warm nature center with its cool fish tanks was a welcome visit.

Back to the treasure search, couldn't keep the lens dry the snow/rain was so heavy.

Nice boardwalk down to the beach from lifeguard station.

Touch tank with horseshoe crabs, two fingers was the rule.

Buried fences are always a good place to find treasure. Eliot recognized the tokens I hid along with some loose change as being from Rebounderz (bounce place near DC), I thought my treasure hiding cover was blown, but to my great joy he said, "Dad, these pirates have been to Rebounderz!!"

Horseshoe crab making its way to Eliot.

One of eleven look out towers from WWII built to protect Delaware Bay.

Heated cabins in state park, still nowhere near as warm and cozy as John's house a few miles down the road.

Checking out the sharks at the nature center.

 John has the coolest fireplace.

Eliot exploring our lodgings for our trip.

Today we visited Broadkill and Henlopen Beaches, tomorrow we plan to visit Rehoboth. Henlopen was nicer sand, but very clean and clear of shells, crabs, drift wood and other exciting beach stuff. We found pirate treasure at both locations of course.

What a difference one day makes. Monday's snow turned to 60 degrees and sun on Tuesday!

 Eliot's castle.

 Castle builders.

If you run, your footprints are cooler!

March 9th Weekend

Hooping it up, neighborhood park.

Wow, those are cool!

Skating, the new passion.

And our new homemade shirts sporting our new found favorite activity.

T-shirt production site.

Sunny day, running barefoot, flowers blooming, front yard, what else do you need?

Fishing for trout with friends in Herndon. Overfished by the time we got there, no bites.

But outing was a success as he got the coveted rare McD's breakfast out of the deal.

Hiking to the fishing hole.

Checking out Jupiter. We saw 4 of its moons, and two lines on the planet itself, really cool!

Classmate birthday.
